Police lied about IGP contacting us- Family of suspect who died in a police cell
Contrary to the police statement that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Akuffo Dampare has reached out to the family of Prince Kufuor, the young man who died in police custody, the family says that claim is false.
The family is livid that the police administration and the IGP would lie about such an important matter that affects their sensibility.
They are angered by the level of dishonesty emanating from the police service and the police chief.
Speaking on Ultimate 106.9 FM, the Abusua Penyini of the deceased, Kwadwo Asumang, noted how can a state institution communicate things it has not done.
‘‘The regional commander has not even called how much more the IGP, anybody saying they have reached out to the family is a lie’’
‘‘The police has not contacted us, take it from me, the IGP has not reached out to the family as the police claimed in its statement, that is a lie’’
‘‘They should tell me who they contacted, I am the family head, I have asked all members in my family, nobody has head from any police person, not even the Ashanti Regional command’’
‘’The Abuakwa police wanted to visit the house but due to the tension in the community they did not come, so I am surprised you are reading that the IGP has contacted the family’’
Kwadwo Asumang says the person who signed the statement should be answering some questions on this matter
‘‘The IGP didn’t sign the statement, whoever signed it must answer some questions, the IGP and the Ashanti Regional Police Commander has not gotten in touch with us
‘‘Some people need to answer some questions in this country’’
Below is the police statement, which was issued on August 5th, 2022.
